Why we created OnSell

Real reasons people give up on selling.

OnSell started with situations many Australians already know. Valuable items go unsold because the process takes too much time, effort or confidence.

“I enjoy buying and selling online, but sourcing stock takes time, money and comes with the risk of not making a profit.”
The side hustler
“For a $120 item, I would often rather put it on hard rubbish than deal with the hassle of selling it online.”
Too busy to sell
“After a family member passed away, we were left with a house full of valuable items. Selling everything individually was overwhelming.”
The estate clean-out
“When my nan moved into care, valuable belongings ended up in landfill because we did not have time to sell everything properly.”
The downsizer
“A buyer said they were coming, so I removed the listing. They never showed up and I had to start all over again.”

Frequently asked questions

What people want to know before joining.

Straight answers for Sellers, OnSellers and Buyers.

How does OnSell make selling easy?

You upload the item and compare offers from OnSellers. The selected OnSeller prepares the external listing, manages buyer enquiries and negotiates the sale for you.

What exactly does an OnSeller do for me?

An OnSeller uses their selling experience to list and promote your item, find a buyer and send the secure OnSell payment link. You keep the item until collection.

How do I choose an OnSeller?

Compare their minimum sale offer and their note about how they plan to sell the item. You decide which offer to accept.

How do I earn income as an OnSeller?

Browse local items, submit offers and sell the items you are selected for. You earn a commission when the buyer collects the item and the pickup code is verified.

Is my payment secure when using OnSell?

Buyers pay through a secure OnSell checkout powered by Stripe. Funds stay protected until the item is collected and the one-time pickup code is verified.

What happens if my item is not sold?

If an item does not sell within the agreed selling period, the sale can end and the Seller can decide what to do next. OnSell does not force a sale.

How much does OnSell cost?

There is no upfront listing charge in the launch model. Fees and the OnSeller commission come from a successful sale and are shown clearly before you proceed.

What happens if there is a problem with the item or sale?

Contact OnSell support. Payment stays protected until pickup is confirmed, and eligible failed pickups can follow the OnSell refund process.
